Update:
After a five-year hiatus from this website, I have decided to come back. The past five years, I’ve been fully immersed in my role (which is my childhood dream) as a geopolitical risk coordinator for a multinational energy company in Indonesia. This demanding position has occupied most of my time, leaving little room for my previous part-time and volunteer work. While my current focus is primarily on one specific region, my passion for geopolitics and energy continues to grow. I’ve developed a keen interest in the energy industry and how geopolitics affects it and everyday life. Despite my professional commitments, I still find enjoyment in fashion, baking, and perfume.
With this update, I aim to expand my horizons beyond my current professional responsibilities. I will write more about the geopolitics of the energy industry, or explain a geopolitical or security issue in a mundane language. If you ask me, is it for educating people? Actually, not really, I need to transfer my thoughts to writing, and I am so passionate about the energy and geopolitical world, but if it can help educate people, why not? I also want to explore X and short-form vertical videos like Instagram Reels, but well, slowly….
However, it’s important to clarify that all my opinions and analyses are my own and do not represent my organization. I’m eager to explore and understand the world beyond my immediate work environment, although I won’t delve into topics related to my current region of operation.
————————————————————————————————————————–My name is Cinta Carnelian, currently a full-time lifestyle content writer for Rukita.co in Indonesia, and (sometimes) a part-time civil-military researcher for Verve Research, Australia. Don’t ask me how can I manage my time, because my part-time job is project-based, so it is still manageable.
I used to own a blog called Cinta Carnelian’s Life, where I wrote about fashion, art, my personal life, and home decor back in 2012.
Why is it called the Siren of Novgorod?
It shows my interest in social-political and defence issues, aside from lifestyle. Siren of Novgorod is my alter ego, a cold siren who lives in one of the most critical military cities in Russia, Nizhny Novgorod. I majored in International Relations and focused on defence and security.
I have a keen interest in art, fashion, healthy and sustainable lifestyle, mental health, and world issues related to defence or conflict. So those are the topics of this blog. I just want to share my mind in a writing form, and the old blog does not fit the more substantial issues.
Food and drink?
I am addicted to baking and eating French pastries and rustic bread since I was very young; you can check that on my Instagram. I also know a craft beer bar in Jakarta, just write to me if you want to know about it! I enjoy reading a book on the weekend while having brunch at different cafes; I can be a bit of a bookworm on the weekend.
See, I am not someone who only talks about guns. If someone wants to talk about conflict and security with me one day, I will make sure that I wear the brightest red lipstick, a beautiful dress, and black stilettos. So, I’m balancing my two contrasting worlds here.
